Fun In THe Sun On A Hot Summer Days

Here in South Mississippi it has been a really hot Summer.We have been reaching temps. of 100 and above.Ii has been really dry,since we have had no signs of rain for over a month now.Everything is dying out,flower beds,vegetable gardens,grass,and yes even the weeds are dying.You try to water at least ever other day,but chlorinated water just does not do what fresh rain water does.
The heat is so bad that the children stay inside all day,it is just too hot to play outdoors.They have a big pool but the water in the pool is like lukewarm bath water,not refreshing or cool at all.So to beat the heat and give the children a few hours of fun and outdoor time you look for a natural swimming pool.A nice cool running creek with a sandbar,a bridge to set under for shade,shallow water for the little ones and,deep water for the ones that can swim.They are far and in between,most are on private property and people will not let you swim in them.I do understand,it is a liability thing where they are responsible if anyone gets hurt.We are of the lucky few with a creek like this just a few miles from our house that people can still go swimming in,not many know about it so it is not crowded with people.
So her are a few pictures of how to beat the heat on a hot summer day and give the kids something to do that they all enjoy as well as the adults. Shallow water for little ones.

Hi,

It has been awhile since I have done any blogging,been alot of things going on in life,as you all know life throws up road blocks when you least expect them.Not going to go into all the things that keep me from blogging,but I have been so busy with life that it took me away from the computer for awhile.I am thinking it is time to bring myself back to blogger and enjoy reading and posting again.
Right now I am doing sewing to get my beautiful little grand daughter ready for the State Beauty Pageant and picking and putting up what few vegetables from the garden that the heat has not gotten.Yesterday the theomster on my front porch read 104 degrees.We have not saw a drop of rain in over a month.The flowers,grass,veggies and yes even the weeds around here are dying.Makes me want to cry watching my flower beds just wilt away,even though I do try to water them every other day.My grass is so dried out that we do not even have to cut it,and I love getting out in the early morning to cut the grass.

Today I am showing you Artist Trading Cards that I made last week for a swap over at

http://www.swap-bot.com/. If you like swapping things like crafts,postcards dish towels,and lots of other things you should check out swap-bot.These are for a Sunflower ATC swap.This set is hand painted with acrylic paints on black card stock.Two have lady bug stickers on the leaves.The one with the jar,the jar was cut out of a magazine then glued onto the card stock then painted.

This set is a printed piece of scrap booking paper glued to a piece of card stock,the sunflowers are stamped on with a rubber stamp,the words are velum sheets with the word cut out and glued onto the card.

ATC cards are 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" cards with what ever style of art you which to decorate them with.They are for trade only,not to be sold.It is lots of fun to trade with other artist,you get some beautiful art to collect.

Today is Blooming Tuesday over at MsGreen'thumb'Jeans ,Thank you Jean for hosting Blooming Tuesday so we can see all the beautiful blooms that grow all around the country.

Today I am showing a picture of blooms from the dogwood tree in my son's back yard.He bought me one this year but it will not have blooms until next year.I do believe this is the most beautiful flowering tree there is,and it has such a wonderful smell.Below the picture I have posted the Legend of the Dogwood tree.It is a wonderful story.

Legend of The Dogwood Tree StoryTwo thousand years ago, few trees in the Middle East were big enough to construct anything. However, one tree was valued above the others for its thick trunk and fine, strong wood.
When the Romans came to rule over Jerusalem, their government used this same timber to build the crosses for executing criminals. A group of workers were assigned to gather wood for the crosses. Before long, every Roman official knew the best wood came from these gatherers of execution wood, so those workers became popular.
One day, the wood gatherers received a special request. An officer of the Roman court came and said, "The King of Jews is to be put to death. Deliver an extra-large cross made from your finest wood." So, a fresh tree was cut from the forest of the trees with thick trunks and fine, strong wood. An extra-tall (and extra-heavy) cross was quickly made and delivered.

Three days after the death of Jesus of Nazereth, the chief wood gatherer got alarming news. "All of our finest trees are withering!" the messenger whispered. The wood gatherer hurried to the forest and saw that it was true.
Several years later, the chief wood gatherer heard that, every spring, many people visited the old forest that had once made his job so easy. Despite his advancing years, he set out to discover why. He saw the remains of forest, now like a salty bottoms, with only a few trees still standing tall, bare, lifeless and rotting.
But what was this? As he drew closer, his feeble eyes could make out the people walking among thousands of beautiful, flowering bushes. Seeing one of his own workers there, the old man said, "No one could ever make a cross out of this twisted wood. Our finest tree has gone to the dogs!" He noticed the beautiful white flowers, each blossom looking as if it had been burned from the touch of a miniature cross.

There Is A LegendAt the time of Crucifixion the dogwood had been the size of the oak and other forest trees. So firm and strong was the tree that it was chosen as the timber for the cross. To be used thus for such a cruel purpose greatly distressed the tree, and Jesus nailed upon it, sensed this. In His gentle pity for all sorrow and suffering Jesus said to the tree: " Because of your regret and pity for My suffering, never again shall the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a cross. Henceforth it shall be slender and bent and twisted and its blossoms shall be in the form of a cross--two long and two short petals. And in the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints, brown with rust and stained with red, and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see it will remember."
The pink dogwood is said to be blushingfor shame because of the cruel purpose which it served in the Crucifixion.The weeping dogwood further symbolized the sorrow.The red dogwood, called the Cherokee, bearsthe color to remind us of the blood shed by our Savior.

FUN IN THE SUN

Today is Blue Monday Over At Smiling Sally's.Today I am going to show some fun in the sun pictures.Last year instead of five different birthday parties my daughter decided to have one party for all the children at the water park.It was my daughter,her husband the five kids and me and paw paw.We had lots of fun on the water slides and pools,also we had cake,hot dogs ,chips,and drinks .All the party foods was supplied in the Birthday package deal at the water park.Big water slide,the only thing is it is a long climb getting to the top.

You see the little person coming down the white slide that is my 6 year old grand daughter,that slide is the tallest in the park and comes almost straight down.The boys would not slide down it,she slid down the slide three or four times and loved it.

SPRING IS GETTING CLOSER

It is another wonderful Blooming Tuesday over at Jean's place,you should take a little trip over to Jean's and stroll through some of the wonderful gardens that are starting to come alive with buds and blooms.I am quite sure you will enjoy your trip and have a smile on your face when you leave just thinking about how close it is to SPRING. My Jasmine coming into bloom,This jasmine does not have the sweet wonderful smell like Caroline Jasmine,but it is still just as beautiful.

This is a new plant in my garden it is called Leopards Bane (Doronicum 'Leonardo Compact'

Purple Hyacinthia,they do not last long but they are a very beautiful flower for late Autumn and early Spring.

It is Blue Monday over at Sally's today,hope to see you all there.Thank you Sally for hosting Blue Monday so we get to see lots of wonderful Blue from our blogger friends.

Here is my blue binder,I bet you are thinking not much of a Blue Monday to be looking at.Well I would like to show you what is inside of the binder,and the binder is my blue.You might see a little blue on what is inside.

Here they are these are called ATC Cards,Artist Trading Cards for trading with other artist that make ATC's.These are 3 1/2"x2 1/2" cards that you do art of any media that you want to try.

I have been trading for awhile now,I have cards from all over the U.S.,and Canada.It is fun to see what others like to do with their cards.Some are painted,some are hand drawn,stickers,collage,just what ever is your thing.

The cards are for trade only not to be sold,it is to share a little piece of art with others around the country.My collection is almost at 100 now and I trade two to three cards a week.

A SHORT HISTORY OF ARTIST TRADING CARDS-Artist Trading Cards have been around for less than a decade. Yet, their historical roots can be traced back to the Mail Art and Fluxus movements of the 1960s, and even earlier to the Dadaist movement of the 1920s.
Swiss artist M. Vänci Stirnemann first developed the concept of Artist Trading Cards in 1996, when he decided to document his activities with other artists by producing a catalogue of 1,200 cards he created by hand. He exhibited the cards at his bookstore gallery in Zürich in May 1997. On the last day of the exhibit, Stirnemann invited anyone who wanted a card to create their own ATC to trade during the closing reception.

Canadian artist Chuck Stake (aka Don Mable) attended Stirnemann’s exhibition that May and also participated in a Trading Session while in Zürich. Stake became very enthusiastic about ATCs and collaborated with Stirnemann to stage “The First International Biennial of Artist Trading Cards” at The New Gallery in Calgary, Canada that included 80 artists from 10 different countries. Since then, with the help of the Internet, interest in ATCs has spread around the globe.
Many artists who make ATCs use the Internet to display their cards and to locate others willing to trade cards by mail or to share ideas. However, organized face-to-face ATC sessions are, by far, the preferred means of meeting other artists and trading cards. Today, you will find ATC swap sessions happening in most major cities around the world.

I received this in an email from my brother and sister in law this morning,thought I would share it with you all.I enjoyed reading it and it has so much truth in it.It gives you and understanding of what the Lord's Prayer is all about.That the Lord is always by your side no matter what and watching over you in your daily life.

A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending Services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the preacher Decided to visit him.It was a chilly evening. The preacher found the man at home alone, Sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his preachers Visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the Fireplace and waited.The preacher made himself at home but said nothing. In the graveSilence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning Logs. After some minutes, the preacher took the fire tongs, Carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one Side of the hearth all alone then he sat back in his chair, stillSilent.The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone Ember's' flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow And then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead.Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The preacher Glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly Stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the Middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the Light and warmth of the burning coals around it.As the preacher reached the door to leave, his host said with a tearRunning down his cheek, 'Thank you so much for your visit and Especially for the fiery sermon. SHOW and TELL FRIDAY

Today is Show and Tell Friday and I am going to show some china pieces that I found in a Thrift shop last week.I am not usually a person who buys dishes,but I thought these would fit in to my kitchen decor since it is vintage and old kitchen gadgets and pictures.Now I need to find a older plate holder for them. I just loved the blue color of this one and the design of it.It has markings on the back that is a lion and says Churchill England.I got it for$.50

These I choose because they looked odd,I like the White gold on them.They have a marking that is an MCP intertwined with the no.735H.It is posted with a 22 karat white gold also.Made in the U.S.A. This was $3.00 for all 4 pieces.

I love the little flower design and gold rim on this little saucer,it is marked HomerLaughlin,no.E 47N 6 made in the U.S.A. This one was $1.00

This one has an oreintal look to it,The mark on it is Harmony House,it is called Sunny Glade.is says HH Fedral Gold and Japan.This one was $1.00

Last but not least this cute little bowl with what looks like a peony in the center.Mark on back is a bow and arrow The Harkes Pottery Co. No.1 made in the U.S.A. since 1840.22 karat gold trim around the outside edge.This one was also $1.00

I guess I could become a china collector if I had the space or room in my home for it,but I already have so many collection I really do not need to start another collection.

Grandmother's Gifts

Today is 2nd Time Around with Diane over at A Picture is Worth a 1,000 Words

this is my first time to do 2nd Time Around with Diane,I am showing two piecse that were given to me by my Mother.These two pieces were my Grandmother's and were passed to me after her death.I think they are called Carnival Glass because of the coloes in them.I am not sure how old they are ,but she had them along time and I have had them for about 8 years now so I guess they are pretty old.I have a couple more pieces from my Grandmother and treasure them .It is nice to have things that have been passed down over the years in the family.

The back of the candy dish,it is hard to see but it has grapes and leaves on it.The dis is gold with reds,pinks ,yellow colors .

6.Watching my little grand daughter in her little beauty pageants she likes to do..She does not care if she wins or not she just likes to dress up and have fun.She has a big heart for a little girl,she is 7 years old.
7.All the wonders and joys God has given me in my life,great husband,4 beautiful children,17 wonderful grandchildren,sisters,brothers,mom,dad.I may not be a wealthy person but God has given me a wealth of love in a large family.Not to mention all the wonder and beauty I see every morning when I wake up.

PORCH BENCH COMPLETE

Today is Show and Tell over at Kelly,
I am going to show you a porch bench that my husband made for me and then I decorated.I was not to sure how I wanted to proceed with the decorating.I first had to do alot of sanding ,with a very coarse sandpaper and then with a very fine sandpaper.I sanded until it was smooth.Once I got it sanded I had to figure out what to do with the bench.I started learning a new craft here while back,wood burning.I decided that I would like to burn a design into the wood.So I drew me a design onto the porch bench top,then I proceeded to burn the design into the top of the porch bench.Once I had the design burned into the porch bench I stained it with a brown stain. Below is my finished work of art. Boards that husband cut out for the porch bench.It was made with 2x12 treated lumber.

Completed porch bench.Now I am ready for Spring so I can put it out on the porch or find a nice place out near a flower bed for it to set.

IT'S BLOOMING TUESDAY

Today is Blooming Tuesday over at Jean's MsGreen"thumb"Jean ,

I am going to show a few new things I have put in the ground ,they are mostly ground covers that I picked out with nice color when they are in bloom. This is a Shasta Daisy that I planted last year that has started emerging from the earth,can not wait to see it in bloom on its second year.

My little narssius that has finally gotten a few blooms on it.I was beginning to think it was not going to bloom this year.

Now my new ground covers,this is called Fuldaglut Sedum.It has a bronze-red foliage,grows 2 to 4 " high.It's hardiness is to -40 degrees.

This little plant is called creeping phlox this one does not have many blooms on it and they are purple although they look white here.

Also creeping Phlox,a dark pink color.They grow about 6" high with a spread of around 5'.They like direct sun light and bloom in the Spring Attracts butterflies and are fast growing.This is also true for the purple one above.

This is one of my favorite flowers in my yard.It never dies and is beautiful all year long.My old rusty Sunflower.It is planted beside my front door steps.

The next few pictures are of my seedlings.Some are already coming up ,others are not quite ready to show themselves yet.I am trying to bring Spring on just as quickly as I possibly can.I have lavender,purple cone flower,red maidens,hibiscus,columbine,coreopsis,Russian sage,loofa gourds,moon flowers,and a few others growing here in all these little pots.

I am going to be showing what I recieved for Valentines Day.On Valentines Day the usual and most wanted gifts are Roses,Chocolate Candies,or Diamonds and Jewerly.That is what most ladies want or wish for on Valentines.Well I guess that makes me alittle unusual,although I love flowers especially roses the cut ones die in a few weeks.I love Chocolate candy too,but my hips really are not in the need of that wonderfully sweet Valentine.As for Diamonds and Jewerly,I wear a wedding ring and I love my ear rings,other than that I do not care for jewerly.I know you are asking yourself what is wrong with that woman?Valentines Day is a day of love,so if your love is going to present you with a gift of love should it not be something you like or that you will enjoy.well as for me I had just as soon have a beautiful plant that I can plant in my flower garden,or a piece of yard art to add in my flower garden or to my porch with.With my sweet husband knowing me so well after 30 years of wedded bliss he knows what kinds of things to buy for me.It is not frills,candies,or gold and silver bling.He came in off the road on Thursday before with the first of my gifts which was this awesome little blue tin man with a very pretty red heart.My husband said I saw this in the truck stop and it just said Charlotte would love to hang me on her porch,you know she would. My beautiful blue tin man with his big red heart.

Isn't he just so cool,I get to look at him hanging around everyday.

Now thses next two pictures are gift no. 2,my wonderful bottle trees.I have been wanting bottle trees for so long.I have been buying colored bottles and old bottles of any kind for the bottle tree I hope to have one day.Well on Sunday afternoon my husband says lets go to Lowes he chooses the material he wants to build the trees with.We come home and he and my son set out and make me not just1 bottle tree ,but 2 bottle trees.Old tale is That a Bottle tree will keep the bad spirits away.

Now this last pic is a Valentines gift from my son and his family.After I told him I was going to cut down the Dog Wood tree in his back yard because I did not have one at home.(Ha!Ha!)He and his wife went out on the 12th for their wedding anni. when he got home ha stopped by the house and said mama come see what I found on the side of the road,when I got on the porch I had a Dog Wood tree sitting there.Son said now you do not have to cut down our tree.(HA!HA!) So this is my wonderfully unusual Valentine gifts that I love and will be able to see each time I walk outside for years to come,You could not ask for a better Valentines gift than the ones I received from my husband and my son and his family.

A REAL FOUND TREASURE

Today I went "Treasure Hunting",my daughter and I go every Sunday afternoon.There is a gentleman who goes out and buys the contents of storage buildings that have not had the rent paid on them.Every Sunday afternoon he has a sale,you can find some nice things at his sale sometimes.Most of the time I just buy little items that I like to add to my home for the kitchen or where ever in the house.Today when I went I bought some tapered candle holders ,a small hand held grater,got a brand new grinder for $3.00.Been wanting a grinder,someone gave me a bag of Star Bucks whole coffee beans and I needed the grinder for that.Just normal little things I like to pick up at sales like this one.But then as I was looking on the table I saw this cute little box sitting there and as I picked it up I thought I am going to buy this it looks kind of old.It was a little powder compact.When I got home I looked and got the name off of it and did a search online to see if I could find it or anything about it.The name on it was Wadsworth,well to my surprise it came up on Google.There was a site that had the very same compact listed,so off I went to check it out.It was an auction site,but there was my little compact and when I saw the price I near feel out.(Oh yeah I paid $1.00 for this little treasure of mine.)The one she had had been used it still had powder in the corners of it,mine has no powder it has not been used.It is a little tarnished from age I would guess,they were made in 1951 according to what I can tell.Okay ,okay I know you want to know what the price was on hers here goes $145.00.And I paid $1.00 for the one I was holding in my hand,I was so tickled.Here are a few pictures of my little "TREASURE". This is the top of the little compact it is standing on the little legs .They fold up under it so it becomes flat for you to put in your purse.

IT"S SHOW AND TELL FRIDAY

Today is Show and Tell Friday at Kellie's and I am going to give you a look at my kitchen walls.They are filled with treasures that I have found at garage sales, consignment shops ,and from friends.I love old vintage kitchen items so my wall are filled with just alot of things I love to look at.They have blue checked wall paper and the top boarder is gardening things. This sign I bought last weekend at a flea market store.I gave 2.00 for it.

I am a big coffee drinker and I just loved these plates with coffee cups on them.The shelve is two old pieces of wood that I put together to make an old looking shelf.I have dish clothes I love and will no use on the shelf,and mugs hanging wire baskets an kitchen angel that I got at a garage sale and another one there you can not see to good that I made.

Here we have vegie pictures,another kitchen angel I made,a flower picture coffee trivet a small coke tray.

I love to collect rolling pins,so my husband made me this holder to hang them in.I do use these when I make chicken and dumplins.Aprons,pot holders,small tin signs.Just alot of little goodies.

Cake pans,more tin signs, trivets,another doll I made,my cook book rack,clock.The pumpkin picture was a gift from a friend in Canada,she drew this picture and painted it for me at Thanksgiving.

Today is Blooming Tuesday,I am just showing my African Violets and a plant I inherited from my daughter,Tree Philodendron Selloum ,it was starting to die at her house so she sent it to live with me.I have a Tree Philodendron Selloum planted in my yard,it gets really beautiful during the year all the way through late fall.In late fall it starts dying back.So when the weather warms up I will plant this one outside also. Tree Philodendron Selloum,this will be planted in the yard come warm weather

CROCHET ITEMS I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON

I have been doing some crochet the last few weeks.Crochet is one of my favorite crafts to do.It is a very relaxing craft,I can do it while I watch t.v.,or just sit and crochet for hours.When I use to go on long truck trips with my husband I would crochet while we were traveling. My brother and sister in law are having their first grand baby in May,so I crochet this little blue baby blanket for the new baby.I have always crocheted blankets for the new babies in the family.While I was working on it my grands who all have a baby blanket have decided they all want a new one.They are wanting full size ones,so I guess I will be busy for awhile crocheting blankets.I really think they will make great birthday presents for them this year.This is the one I made for the new baby,it is crocheted with a single crochet ,and double crochet shell.It has a shell stitch border.

It measures 40x45 just the right size for a little one.

The pattern is called Cauliflower,it took 3 ,8ounce skeins of worsted weight yarn to make the blanket this size.

Now this is a blanket I am crocheting now for my 6 year old gran daughter.She is our little Diva,she likes pinks,purples,bright yellows,and lime green colors.I made her a comforter last summer with all these colors and when I found this yarn on a real sale(it was 4.29 a skein,I bought it foe .49 a skein) I had to buy it for her room.

The yarn is called Frosting,and the color is hot berries,crocheted it has a warm fuzzy look and feel about it.It is a little harder to crochet with than worsted weight yarn,but it makes up so beautiful. it is crocheted with double crochet stitch.It is done in v stitch,which is a double crochet chain one double crochet all done in the same stitch.Can not wait to finish it and see the completed afghan.It takes ten skeins of this yarn,there is 104 yards in each skein.I am going to crochet a pillow cover to match.

SHOW AND TELL

Today I am posting on somethings that my husband received of his father's after his mother passed away in June 2008.These are wonderful keepsakes to keep the memory of his father alive in his heart.We are so proud to have these items in our home for the children and grandchildren to see.It helps them know who their grandfather was. This is a picture of my father in law,it sits on the table in our front room.

Here is a Bible that was presented to my mother in law from the local VFW after the passing of my father in law.He was a war veteran.

It is a beautiful bible,this page is the presentation page.

It was given in this wonderful wooden and leather box.

This is my father in laws year book from the army,I never knew the made year books.It is just like a school year book.

Some of the pictures in the year book show them in training.

He was in the 5th Armored Division.

The year this book was created was in 1953.

Cloudy Skies

I enjoy watching the sky on cloudy ,stormy days,the clouds are so awesome.Sometimes they look just plain anger and sometimes they are beautiful.I took these pictures last week when the clouds blew in.They were what I call beauties they have so much puffiness to them and in a few they look like they are rolling.On clear days when the clouds are puffy and white the grand kids ,their mom and I will look for shapes in the clouds.I will bet there are quite a few of you out there who remember laying out under the clouds and hunting pictures in the sky.That is one of my fondest memories as a kid,I did it with my children ,and now I get to do it with my grandchildren.
This my sound strange to a lot of people but when hurricane Ike was coming here it was really cloudy and stormy.I was sitting out on my porch watching the clouds moving in and I looked out in the sky and saw the most wonderful picture I have ever seen in the clouds.At first I saw a hand in the clouds and I looked twice, then in that hand was an angel standing there.This very beautiful cloud angel was holding hurricane Ike in her hand.I knew then and there we were going to be spared the damage from hurricaine Ike that we received during hurricaine Katrina.We got a lot of damage in our area from Katrina and was scared Ike was going to move in and do more,but when I saw that angel standing there in that hand I knew we were going to be alright.

The clouds in these pictures look as if they are just hanging right above the ground.They are so thick and beautiful and they were very full of rain that day.

Well there are not many blooms in my yard as of right now.I do have some quite cute little weeds blooming with all the warm weather we have been having so I decided I would just show you the cute blooms from the weeds.I can only tell you what one of them are and that is this little purple one.It is wlid clover and it makes a pretty little flower that I just leave in my flower gardens when it appears.I do have one flowering bush that is blooming to early but it is getting beautiful and that is my Jasmine. blooming Wild Clover

Show and Tell Friday Cross Stitch Pictures

Years ago the craft I was doing was cross stitch,I have not crossed stitched in years,but this is a set of pictures that I cross stitched.They were done back in 1988.When I saw the pattern I knew that I would have to cross stitch them.I cross stitched three pair,the set I own,a set for my good friend as a house warming present,and one set that I sold.My eyes are so off now(thats what age does for you)that I probably could not see to do this kind of work.This pair hang in my sewing room,this was something I was so proud of and it will always be here for me to admire.

Dolls are one of my many collections,I collect porcelain and cloth dolls.I love dolls,I guess I am still a little girl at heart because I had just as soon buy a doll or make a cloth doll as I had to buy anything.This is just a few of my porcelain dolls.Some were ordered from Ashton Drake others were given to me by my mother and husband for birthdays.I also love to collect cloth dolls that were made by others,I do make them also and can never seem to part with the ones I make,unless they were made especially for a doll swap.I have cloth dolls made by ladies from Canada,Australia,and other countries also America.I will have to post the cloth dolls on another Show and Tell.The doll in the second picture was the first on bought for my collection.She was bought because she looked like my first grand daughter 14 years ago.That was the start of my collecting dolls.The last pic was a doll chosen because she favored my second grand daughter sister to the first grand daughter.It has been awhile since I bought a porcelain doll,but I think the time to buy a new one is nearing,(My husband will love hearing that).I slow down on the porcelain dolls when I started making cloth dolls.Hope you enjoy looking at my little beauties.

Porch Bench in the making

I have been wanting some new porch benches so my husband and I decided we would build them ourselves.We had some pressure treated lumber that was not being used so we are making the porch benches out of that lumber.He was off work last week so it was a good time to get the benches started.We only got one done last week ,but over the next few weekends we are going to build a few more benches.Since they are out of treated lumber we are going to do a few benches to set out around the pond.We enjoy sitting out at the pond and letting the goats eat brush and the benches will make nice sitting areas under the oak tree.We cut the seat of the bench about 5 ft. and then cut the legs they are around24 ins.There is a V cut into the bottom of the legs and then cut flat on each point so it will sit level.We used galvanized screws to assemble it.There is a brace screwed in under the seat at each leg for stability. Here we are making the bench and starting the sanding process,we have had rain all week so I just got started sanding it really well today.I will try and get the sanding finished up tomorrow.Then comes the task of making the choice to stain the bench or put a beautiful country style painting on them.That is the one thing I have not made a decision on yet,I am thinking that for the porch benches I will do a nice country style painting effect,and on the benches that will be at the pond I will stain and add water sealer and a couple of coats of clear varnish.I will add the water sealer and clear varnish to the porch benches also.

When I am finished sanding and start on the painting I will post pictures so you can see the progress of the work until i am finished with the porch benches.I have a few more outdoor projects I want to get done before Spring arrives,but this is my starting point.

My husband and is sisters lost their mother 6 months ago,and just 10 months before that they lost their dad.So for the last two years they have had to celebrate Christmas without their parents,which is a sad thing for anyone to have to do.The first year without dad was a sad one ,but this year without mom and dad was even sadder.Your parents are a very important part of your lives and when you lose both in a little over a years time it is a hard thing to get through.We did our Christmas at my SIL 's daughter's home today and everyone did have a wonderful time,but mom and dad were truly missed by their children,daughter in law ,and son in laws,and grand children.
We all took men and women gifts to play dirty Santa,and gifts just for the kids to open,This is something we did each year with my husbands family.No buying for everyone or swapping names just playing dirty Santa and we had lots of fun playing.Well any way my sister in law brought her brother and two sisters a little gift.It was a poem framed and it was just beautiful,to help them get through Christmas without mom this year.It is a wonderful poem for anyone who is spending Christmas for the first time without someone they love and miss.I would like to share this poem with you and have you share it with someone you know that might need a lift in their spirit for having to spend Christmas without a loved one.I wish i would have had this to read the first year we spent Christmas without my older brother whom I lost 4 years ago.

My First Christmas In Heaven

I see the countless Christmas Trees around the world below,
With tiny lights,like Heaven's stars,reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular;please wipe away that tear,
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear,
But the sounds of the music can't compare with the Christmas Choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,the joy their voices bring,
For It is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me,I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away,We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me dear ones,You know I hold you dear
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift from my Heavenly home above,
I send you each a memory of my undying love.
After all,"Love" is the gift, more precious than pure gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other,as my Father said to do,
For I can't count the blessings or the Love he has for each of you

So have a Merry Christmas and wipe away that tear,
Remember, I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I am not sure where this poem was found,but I do know it made us all feel a lot better about Christmas without mom.We do miss her badly,but to think she is spending Christmas in Heaven with Jesus Christ is a wonderful thought to carry in your heart.So if you are missing a lost Love one here at Christmas Time just remember that they are in Heaven spending Christmas with Jesus Christ.

My Little Found Christmas Treasures

I found some nice little Christmas Treasures today on my trip to town.It was just a streak of luck because my daughter ,the grands and I were going to bank and Wal Mart only today.When we got to the bank the person we needed to see was gone to lunch,so I said let's go to Dirt Cheap and spend 30 minutes while waiting for her to get back from lunch.I am sure some of you know what Dirt Cheap is ,but for those that do not it is a store that sells things from fire and water damage stores and returns from stores.Sometimes you can find great deals and other times they might not have much.Great example is about 6 months ago I got a Bunn coffee maker for $15.00,now that was a deal.Today on our unexpected trip to Dirt Cheap I got some wonderful Christmas treasures.The ones in the pics plus a snow family,snowman standing on a snowflake,sm. snowman ornie,and another snowman and stocking figurine.All of those where taken home by my daughter who is collecting snowmen.

I also got an ice crystal wreath for $2.00 ,The total of my whole little shopping spree of found Christmas treasures was a little over $9.00,so I think I did pretty well today,everything in the Christmas isles was 95% off,hope to go back after Christmas and see what else I might find.

In The Mail Today

Today I opened my mail box and there was this wonderful book full of beautiful flowers and vegetables.It was such a nice thing to see all the beauty of spring on a cold and wintery day like today.There are so many beautiful flowers and wonderful vegetable plants to choose from.I am sitting here choosing what I want to order for my Spring planting.I know it is the middle of winter but Spring will be upon us before we realize that it is here,so i am going to start making my order so I will be ready.I will order some seeds and some plants ready for planting.My perennial garden needs some new life in it this year,and there are some great perennials I would like to add.When planting perennials I like to plant the plant itself but I will buy a few different seeds to try out.So although it is winter I can picture pretty flower greenery sprouting from the ground and the beginning of new growth in my gardens.Never to early to start planning our gardens and I think I will start now.

Everyone needs something to make them smile everyday and today for me it is a wonderful book full of flowers and vegetables to shop through.What has put a smile on your face today?

Christmas From The Robbins Nest

I have not posted pics of my Christmas trees till now,because the Christmas feeling has not been in my heart.It has just been a little hard to get in the spirit ,work has been short and we were not sure how we were going to get presents for our grandchildren.When you are not to sure how things are going to be financially you worry a lot.I did not put up all my decorations this year,but the trees went up for the babies,they do not understand if you do not put up the trees at least.So I did put all my trees up and a few other things
Today we got a little extra money,we found that husbands check had been shorted a couple of loads,he is a truck driver and when they did his check they shorted him,well we got that money today and it was enough to buy all but two presents for grandchildren and I will get those two this weekend.So it made me feel more in the Christmas Spirit to see their presents get bought,now I will get them wrapped and under the tree.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and I have hated feeling so down,so I want to share my trees with everyone.They are not fancy themed trees just a tree with ornaments collected over the years,a small tree with swapped ornaments from friends I have meet online,and a small set of prim trees.I love prim ornaments and they are not just Christmas ornaments on them they are all different kind on there.
So as we start to celebrate our Lords birthday I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday Season,and remember God can make all things better if you just have faith and believe. This little tree is just small ornaments that I have received in swaps with friends,they are not fancy ,but they mean a lot because they came from ladies I have met online and became friends with.

This is not a great picture but this is my prim trees,I just love the prim look.

This is a cabinet under my window,that I decorated,you can not tell with the light on but that is a light with a carving of God bearing the cross inside the light.My mother in law gave all of us one of these lights for Christmas about three years ago and I love this light.

My Christmas tree,full of ornaments collected over the years,I now have more ornaments than tree is able to hold.I told my husband we would need a bigger tree next year.I buy a new ornament ever year.This year I did not have money to buy one so I made a couple of new ones.I think from now on I will start making them instead of buying them.They mean so much more.

Oh Yhea!!!! It has snowed in Mississippi

Well it is looking alot more like Christmas in Mississippi.We got 5 inches of snow yesterday.It was the most beautiful snowfall we have ever saw.That is because snow in Mississippi is far and in between.We did get a small snow last year about 1 inch,but to Mississippi 5 inches is almost a blizzard.We are accustom to very dry, humid Summers and cool, mild Winters,so snow is a real treat for us.It can be a bad thing in away because people do not know how to drive in the snow so there are alot of people who sit in ditches and else where til some one can come and pull them out. Limbs heavy with snow breaking and bringing down power lines,there were quite a few with loss of electricty.We were lucky we did not lose ours,but my sister has been without lights for two days,hope she gets them back tonight.The children enjoy the snow ,my grands have been out playing and eating snow for two days now.My daughter,the kids and I rode around to look at our community and take pictures and we saw some beautiful sites.It is amazing how beautiful the woods are when they have snow hanging from the trees and all over the ground underneath them.God can create some amazing wonders for us to see in our lives and the snow is one of his finest wonders,the whole world seem to be brighter with all the fresh snow yesterday.We probably will not see another snow this winter ,even though one on Christmas Day would be wonderful.I am just glad that my grandkids have gotten to see just how beautiful the world can be with a fresh snow everywhere.The snow just made it feel more like winter and Christmas time.You see we are use to it being in the 60's on Christmas and Christmas should be cold and white. Getting Grand Daughter in Christmas Parade

This weekend my grand daughter was in the Christmas Parade.She won Overall Most Beautiful in the Pageant now she goes to the State Pageant to represent the county we live in.So she got a place in the parade. We had a lot of things to do to get ready for her to be in the parade.We had to get her suit to wear made(by MOMO) her grand paws big truck had to be washed and shining,wreath for truck,signs for truck doors and decorate truck.It was so cold that day that we almost froze out there doing the truck.The night before her mom and I did the wreath and the signs,I had so much glitter in my floors I thought I would never get it up.I still see a little glittering here and there every once in awhile.Dad and Paw Paw got up early Saturday morning in the cold and got the truck washed and shined up.The Parade was at 5:30 p.m. Saturday night,we had to be in town lined up and decorating the truck at 2:00 so we would have it done and ready to go by 5:30.There were 63 cars and trucks in the parade that does not count floats ,the fire dept. and Santa Claus.My daughter and I had to walk beside the truck through the parade because there had to be someone on each side of the truck since she was so high off the ground.She was truly a little beauty,and people just yelled at her and could not believe she was riding up there so high off the ground.Her Paw Paw was a really proud Paw Paw getting to ride his little angel in the parade.These are some pictures we took before we got things together and after with her on the truck.I did not get them in the right order so you will be going backwards.Miss Carrie Alexis Reid Young Miss Lawrence County Overall Most Beautiful.

Glittering snow flakes hanging from the sleeper of the truck.We took plastic snow flakes and glued glitter all over them.

This is one of the two signs that caused me to have a glittered house,we had to have one for each side of the truck.

Here is our large wreath in the process of being created,I took two rows of green garland twisted lights in them and then formed the circle to make the wreath then we added decorations to the wreath.

The eighteen wheeler being washed that morning before the parade,this is her dad and little brother working hard.

Her red velvet suit I made for her to wear,it was a knee length top with pants to go with it.We decided to make pants since the weather was so cold.It had white boa around the neck,sleeves,and bottom of the pants.

Snow flakes that we glittered hanging to dry.

Those glittery signs we made,it was a choir trying to get all that wrote on a piece of poster board and it all be the same size writing and in straight lines.I am not a straight line person and my daughter thought I needed to be the one to do the writing.

So now we are reading ourselves and her for our trip to the State Pageant to try and win Little Miss Mississippi.We have until July to find a dress which in her age group is Sunday dress only,we really like that.She also has to have a casual wear suit,I will make that around June when we see what the style is for that time next year.

Well since there are no blooms to be seen at my house I decided to post pictures of my house plants.I do not have alot but I do have a few that I try to keep living through the winter.They love it outside in the Spring thru Fall seasons,but as soon as temps get down in the 50's at night I move them back indoors.I really have to work hard at keeping them alive when I bring them indoors,I either water too much or not enough for the first few weeks until I figure out just who likes what when.So you get to see them before I make a mess of them hope you enjoy them. Getting Ready For Christmas

Well Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is well on it's way.I do not decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving but Christmas is a whole different story.Christmas is my favorite time for decorating,I love all the ornaments and lights that make it sparkle.Right now tis is what my decorations look like,All boxed up yelling at me to get us out of these boxes.I can just hear them telling me how cramped they are aned they have been in there for a whole year now so please let us out.We are ready to shine and be seen,oh please please hurry up and open up these boxes so we can breath.The only thing is I will have to listen for a few more days got to many little folks staying with me for the weekend to even attempt to start unpacking yet.I do have a small tree that I am going to take out and let the little ones decorate for me.That is part of the fun watching them put dceorations on the little tree and get so excited about Santa getting ready to come.Listening to them discuss what all they want to get from Santa.Once I get started decorating I will take pictures for you all to see.
Decorating inside is the easy part it is putting up the lights and outside decorations that get more complicated ,making sure you get all the lights running right so you can get them plugged in.Setting up where everything looks nice and connectsd together with just the right look.So I am ready to get started and in a few days my house will be transformed into a Christmas home full of excitement and cheer with decorations,music,all things Christmas.can not wait to take pictures and post of my Christmas decorations so I will see you all soon with Christmas galore.Hope everyone is decorating and getting the Christmas Spirit in your hearts.

Blooming Tuesday

I am running late today with my Blooming Tuesday,sometimes things get in the way and today that happen with me.

Okay I have no blooms left,we had two 28 degree nights last week so it just took away all my beauty I had left.So today I chose some pictures I had took earlier in the year,hope you enjoy looking at them.Not to sure what will be blooming next week,maybe I can get some pictures of my African Violets.I am going to buy a Christmas Cactus maybe it will be blooming. This was taken at the Hattisburg,Ms.Zoo.

Okay I am going to make a confession here ,I am a garage sale,junk store junkie.I stop at every garage sale that I come upon and I had rather shop at a junk store than Wal Mart.I love to find little treasures from others that are cheap.It is so much fun to get out and see what you can find,it is like a treasure hunt to me.Sometimes I come back empty handed,but most times I do find one or two things I just can not turn down.Garage sales can be one of the most relaxing things you do,you pretty much know you are not going to spend a lot,you are going to find something wonderful to look at or that you can use in the kitchen,etc.You can buy a old chair or stool and go home redo it and have a beautiful piece for your home. Wire Tea pot,I really like wire items to decorate
with in the kitchen.I use a big wire basket to
hold my candles.

I also love wall tins to decorate with,have not

decided where these will hang yet but I just feel

in love with the old bicycles.

Another $1.00 find a great little beaded

candle holder,and I burn a lot of candles.

This was just something that made me smile,

so I bought it to set on the kitchen table,being I am

a doll lover she was a must but,she only cost

me $2.oo

I think everyone should spend a day on garage sales or visiting the local junk,second hand store.You can not imagine the fun you will have if you have never done this before.Hope you will take that little shopping day soon and have a fun time.

Christmas Ornaments and Stockings

I have a love of Christmas Ornaments and Prim Ornies.Every year close to Christmas I start making new ornaments for my tree and to swap with friends on line.It is such fun to swap with others and see what different ornaments you get in the mail.The ones in the pictures were made for a swap.I also love making stockings and dressing them up with ribbons and pearls.I started the stocking making when my children were small.They each have the stocking I made them when they were small hanging at their homes now.Along with one for each of their children and their spouse,All my nieces and nephews have stockings too.I have 17 stockings that hang in my house for Christmas one for each grandchild,when I decorate I will have to take a picture and post it. These two stockings are made with velvet. t These are made with camouflage for the boys.

It is Blooming Tuesday at Jeans

This is probably close to the last blooms in my yard for the year.They are talking about temps in the 20's at nights this week so that will take care of most of what I have left for the year.This little petunia is a surprise to me because I was told it would not return each year,but it comes back every year never gets very big but it has been a sturdy plant.The lantana came up under a bird feeder I guess from seed that fell from the feeder,it gets more beautiful each year.I can not wait til Spring returns so I can get out and reseed and start new growth in my gardens.I also planted a new red bud tree this fall and hope to see blooms on it come the first of Spring.I love fall and winter they are beautiful seasons but my favorite time is Spring to watch all the new growth come to life. .

Little Miss Magnolia Carrie Alexis Reid

I would like to introduce you to Miss Carrie Alexis Reid,We call her Alexis,she is my six year old grand daughter.Alexis loves to do beauty pageants.Today Alexis was in the Little Miss Magnolia Pageant,she won over all beauty and is headed to the state pageant.She also does the pageant at school.This is her second preliminary pageant to state,she won Little Miss Lawrence County last year and went to state.Alexis did not place at State last year,but she is on her way back again.In December she will be in the Christmas parade in our city.
Pageants are stressful and keep you on your toes all the time.You have to worry about dresses,shoes,hair,bows for the hair.Lots of girls wear a lot of makeup,but mom does not put a lot on Alexis,she gets to wear a little blush and clear lip gloss.We like to see the real little girl not someone made up.She has won six trophies and four crowns in her short pageant carrier.We are very proud of her,She is our little beauty no matter if she places or not.

A Rose Like No Other

A rose like no other is the Confederate Rose also called a Cotton Rose.It is actually not a rose at all,it is a Hibiscus(mutabilis).you can find it in Pink,Red,and White,they also have a single bloom which has only four petals.They bloom from late summer til early fall.This tree can get up to 15 to 20 ft. tall with a spread as wide.They are hearty in the south and uo to zone 7,some have tried to grow them farther up north with not much luck.you can grow the confederate rose from cuttings or from seed.I grew mine from cuttings from my mother.Have never tried from the seed,I just found out you could grow the rose from seed,so I am going to harvest my seed from my rose and give it a try.To get cuttings you wait til all blooms die out around late November to early December then cut the limbs ,you remove the leaves,put stems in water in a place that is out of the weather,I put mine in the shed.When spring comes take out your stems,most will have some roots on them .Plant the rose,fertilize and keep moist til it takes root.Once it is growing good there is not much care needed,All I do is keep mine watered,one of mine is about 15 ft. tall,the other is catching up.The smaller rose of the two I have was taken out by hurrican Katrina,I thought it was gone ,but the following spring after the storm it came back from the roots that were left in the ground.My confederate rose is a double bloom in pink.
I am going to harvest the seed and if anyone would be interested in seeds to try and grow the confederate rose I will be more than glad to share.From what I have read it is easy to start from seed,this will be my first attempt but I am going to give it a try.

Goats at The Robbins Nest

Goats are one of the best pets you can have I think.We started out three years ago with two baby goats that I raised in my house on bottles.We now have six goats at the Robbins Nest.I would not trade them for any other farm animal.The kids love them and as you can see they play with them.We play with our goats from the time they are borne to keep them tame,that way the children can play with them without the worry of being hurt.Our goats are meat breed goats,There are a number of different breeds you can raise,but some of them are expensive.I myself would like to own at least one angora goat.Some people own the angora for the wool,I just want one because they are beautiful.I do crochet but you need to be a spinner if you use the wool and I am not a spinner.My friend Lady Katherine is a spinner and use to spin wool.When I have a goat problem that is who I ask for advice,she raised goats once before and she knows alot about them.
Sometimes our goats get run of the property,until I catch them in my flower beds which they seem to love.Especially my banana tree,then it is time to go back in their pen.We put the big round bales of hay in th pen for them and they like to play King of the hay bale,the boy goats really like to play it with each other.They all have names and they actully know their names too.We have the first two that came to us as babies are Little Girl & Kid,then we have Cocoa,Honey Dew,andLittle Man.Little man is a milk goat who was given to the grandkids by a friend of theirs.We had to raise him on a bottle also.As of now we have five goats ,two billies,and three nannies,but the three nannies we have are all bred.So sometime this winter we will have at least three more kids,we can not wait,I just wish they would come in the warmer part of the year instead of the coldest.

Be Thankful for the People in Your Life

This is a sad post it has been a sad week and weekend in our little area of the world.The first part of the week we had a family member pass away. He was in Illinos working with his son.His name was Kenny,he was talking on the phone with his wife when he had his heart attack.Kenny is my husbands cousin,he leaves a wife ,three children and a number of grandchildren.He will be buried tomorrow.
A teacher from our local preschool had two sons shot Friday night at a community club.One was killed and the other is in ICU in the hospital,they do not know if he will make it or not.He was shot in the stomach and the knee.Two years ago this mother lost a son in an automobile accident,now one to a gun shot and she may still loose another.I pray God will let her keep at least one of her sons.I can not imange what it would be like to bury one child much less two at one time.
Sometimes I think we take having our children for granted,but we need to step back and remember we could loose them in the blink of an eye.God gave us one of the greatest gifts he had to give a beautiul child to love and care for.It put them in our care and he can take them home with him anytime,so we need to really treasure all the moments we have with them and never take it for granted they will be with us forever.Everyone that can you need to hug your child everyday and tell them how much you love them everyday.Let them know how proud we are to have them in our lifes,
Thanksgiving is coming soon ,so on that day get together with your family and let them all know just how thankful you are to have them in your lives.I lost a brother 4 years ago to a stroke and I miss him everyday and I wish I could just see him and tell him how much I love and miss him.

Let's Make Christmas Ornies

Well it is November and Christmas is right around the corner,so it is time for making and exchanging Christmas Ornaments.I am in a couple of craft clubs and we are already doing the ornie swap,so everyone will have the ornies in time to show off on their Christmas trees.I can not wait to see all of the new ornies I get,I am a ornie fanatic.I buy and swap new ornies every year,it is so much fun.Here are the ornies I am making to send out,they are prim ornies,to me they are awesome prim ornies I mean.I love the coffee and tea dye effects you get when staining them with coffe or tea.This pattern was a free pattern off of the internet at Benath The Willo Tree http://www.btwtnews.com/store/WsAncillary.asp?ID=75 The pattern is by Robin Wein from Mitchell South Dakota.There are lots of great free prim ornie patterns there.Mine are going to be a little different from Robin's in that I added snow to mine and she embrodried the word Believe on her's and I wrote mine with a black pigma pen.I still have to connect the star to the candy cane and add a hanger.As you can see my crafting is done just where ever I decide to craft at,this was in my living room,sometimes I craft in the living room,kitchen table,or my sewing room.Where ever the creative feeling feels right.I am ready to start decorating for Christmas and will probably start this weekend.

Halloween with the Grandkids

We had a fun Halloween with our grand kids,we took them on a hay ride to trick or treat.It was a cold hay ride,we had to bundle up in blankets while we were on the ride,but the kids really enjoyed the hay ride.We saw alot of little ghouls out and about searching for treats on Halloween night.It is so much fun to see all the little ones dressed up in their costumes and having fun.We also went by the local church where they had a trunk or treat going on.There was about twenty cars and trucks sitting in the parking lot,with creatures handing out goodies.After you got goodies from the creatures you could go into the church were they served you hot dogs or sloppy joes and chips for a quick bite to keep up the little ghouls energy levels.Also it kept the kids from eating to much candy.From the church we went to the fire dept. to the haunted house,the kids and their mom,dad,and I went through the haunted house.Paw Paw would not go in with us,I think he was scared of all the ghost inside the haunted house.They handed treats out to the children at the fire house and they had games for them to play.From the fire house we took a little ride just for fun and then headed home,it was a terrific time we had on all hallos night.Be,ow are a few pictures of my little goblins and our hayride.

Let's go to the Pumpkin Patch,it is so much fun.My grandson's first grade class took a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch yesterday,and as usual momo went along.The Pumpkin Patch is located on Mitchell Farms in Collins,Mississippi.They have a wonderful place for a day out there,it is a vegetable growing farm where you can buy and pick your own vegetables.This time of the year they also put on a pumpkin patch and most of the scholls take the younger children there for a field trip to get a Halloween Pumpkin.They have lots to do like,a ride in the big wagon around the farm ,you see the beautiful sunflower fields,wheat field duck ponds.They have two mazes one in the shape of an Eagle in the wheat field,and one made from rond bales of hay.There is a great play ground for the children to play on ,a corn pool,it is filled with shelled corn instead of water.Areal nice covered pinic area.Old farm houses thatare decorated from back in the early 1900's.Mitchell Farms is a great place to have a day out for the whole family.The only thing that was not fun yesterday was the weather it was very cold with winds that stung with every blow,but we did not let that keep us from having a wonderful day at the Pumpkin Patch.

I wanted to show pics of one of my favorite rooms in my home.This is my kitchen,I collect older kitchen gadgets ,rolling pins,anything with a country feel.It is hung al over the walls.We are going to redo the kitchen next summer and my brother said I should take out one of the wall,but I refuse to.I do not want to lose the wall space for hanging all my goodies I find.I am a big junk store junkie that is where I find most of my stuff.On the frist pic I have wire baskets hanging in front of the window,they hold dish rags,cookie cutters ,any little things I use in the kitchen and somethings that are just put there so they will be easy to find.There are aloso little shelves in the window that have little things sitting on them.Next there is a wire tea pot,tea towel,and a tea clock.I found the wire pot at a garage sale,the towel at a junk store and the clock atthe dollar store it cost a whole 2.00.The woodwn shelves I made out of old scrap wood,the rolling pin holder my husband made me out of old wood,I had started grathering so many rolling pins he thought I needed a place to hang them.Most were found at a old store but,,the marble one was given to me by my mom.I made the kitchen angels that are hanging around.It is good to have a kitchen you love being in and I love to be in mine cause it has a homey comfortable feel about it.There are some awesome new kitchen out todat with lots of great features but I just like my little kitchen it is like me just warm and comfy.You do no mind having to spend time there cooking if you feel relaxed in your kitchen.

My Preschool Day

I wrote this post a few days ago,but for some reason it disappeared from my blog.Where it went I am not sure,but I did not save it and I was ask about it so I am going to try to write it again.

My preschool day was something different for me.The reason for my day Mon.Oct. 20 I have to back up to the Friday before.On that Friday a young mother who works in the preschool class at our schools,husband came and picked their two children up from school early that day.They have a 7 year old boy and a 3 year old girl.Dad was on the way home with the children,about 1 1/2 miles from the school the truck hit a water puddle in the road and he started hydroplaneing.The truck started spinning and landed upside a tree.Dad and the little girl were fine,but sad part is the little boy was killed in this accident.It was a terrible thing for this young family to go through.So that brings me to my preschool day.They needed volunteers to watch the students on Monday so the teachers could go to the funeral and be there for the mom who worked with them.Wow have you ever sat with about twenty five 3 and 4 year olds,it is quite an experience let me tell you.We started the day with feeding them breakfast,from there we went into art time.The children decorated pumpkins with paper and glue (messy).Then I sat them in a circle in the reading center and read them a book,now it is lunch time.Now this was a treat,with kids saying I do not like this,I don't want that,can I have more of this.Finally lunch is over and it is nap time,Quite time for the teachers.

By the time this day was over I was so tired all I wanted was a nap,but I do have great appreciation for preschool teachers because they have their hands full.

I want to tell a little more on this accident story from our community.This happen to be the second 7 year old little boy that was killed in a car wreck in our community in 8 months.The other one was back in early summer,he and his mother were hit by a man driving under the influence of prescription drugs.They were both mom and son killed in this accident.In both accidents neither little boy was wearing a seat belt,I do not know if that would have saved either child,but moms and dads please seat belt your children when you put them in a car to go somewhere.We have two young families in our community now living in a world of heart break and sorrow,and siblings that do not really understand why they no longer have their brothers with them.So PLEASE PLEASE put your little ones in a car seat or seat belt,or you could be the one that has to live with a broken heart that will never mend over the loss of your baby.It only takes a minute to have a wreck,but it only takes a minute to buckle them up.

Shasta Daisy
Daisies are so pretty ,you can put them in most any flower
and they will just stand out .The white brings a bright spot
to any place in the yard.

Asters

This was grown from seed,I planted the seed straight in the outside

bed and they grew so well.Every time I try to start early indoors

in peat pots they die.So I started just putting them in the ground

where I want them to grow.

Lavender
This plant has so many different varieties that you n get,this is
my first time to grow lavender,but there will e a new variety
growing beside this one next summer.It brings beauty and
fragrance to any sunny spot.

I think everyone should have a flower garden to gaze at.It it is a amazing thing to watch grow.

You plant a small plant or a seed and then watch in amazement as it becomes a beautiful

flower or tree.I plant perennials in my beds because the come back year after year,and year after year they multiply.They are a great way of sharing plants with friends and family.My daughter got her a new trailer last year and we have been digging up from my beds and starting her beds at her house.It saves lot of money to share,since flowers are truly expensive.

Now I do love annuals there are some really pretty ones,and if you get the right ones they will reseed themselves.Like the asters and the zinnias that I grow.Gardening is alot of work ,but it is rewarding work also.Once you see the beautiful flowers and trees growing in your yard you will be so delighted.

My mom gave me a red bud tree this year that she had rooted,but she said not to put it in the ground till Nov.I am anxiously awaiting the time to plant it and the reward of seeing it come spring.I know they only bloom for a short time but they are truly awesome when they are in bloom.I am also going to get a dogwood to plant with my red bud ,they look so wonderful together.

I will get out more pics of my flowers to post again later.I have flowers that I have bought and some given to me by friends and from family.Those given to you out of friendship and from family(especially MOM's) are the rarest treasures you can grow.Then when your daughter's begin to start their adventure in gardening you can pass a cutting down to her,a great way to keep a special flower growing forever.Then when her daughter or even son gets out on their own she can pass it on to them.

Gardening is one of the greatest gifts God has given us,To put a seed or small plant,or sapling in the ground and see his wonder.God has made a lot of beautiful,wonderful things and shared with us and gardening is one of the greatest.We get to watch his wonderful creations grow right before our eyes everyday.Gardening i good for the heart and soul,it relaxes you,it makes you smile,it gives you something to share with the ones you love.And on top of all that it is great exercise that you do without thinking of it being exercise,and that is something we all need.

So remember God has shared with us some of his most awesome creations to beautify our lives and to share with others.So hare a piece of your garden with a family member or a friend.You could even share it with a stranger to put a smile on their face,you never know they may need a

smile.

Redoing Layout

I am trying to do a new page layout,but some of the gadgets I want will not post on the new layout.I am working on it,one day I will figure all this stuff out.wanted a brighter and happer looking page.I think this is the one for me,I love butterflies bbirds,dragonflies so I like this page.I will learn to work things out like I want them sooner or later.

Past Memory

My mother in law pasted in June of this year,so the family had to do the norm and clean out the house.You are so surprised at the things you will find.We found an old movie projector with movies,it did not work so sister in law is trying to get them put on DVD for us to watch.It was a really hard thing for my husband and his three sisters to do,but it had to be done.Among all the pictures and the little cards from the kids over time ,we found this pair of overalls and glasses.These tiny little overalls and glasses were my husbands when he was a little bitty boy.It seems so weird he was ever this little since now he is 6ft 3 and weighs 275lbs and will be 51 in a few months.I am going to get a shadow box and put them in so they can be keep .It is really a nice thing to find older items like these that people treasured enough to keep that long that were important to them.I have many things that my children made as little ones and gave to me,cards,ornaments and they mean so much.Now I have started keeping the things I get from my grandchildren.We all need to hold on to alittle bit of the past.

ATC's I made for Fall and Halloween

I have been trying to teach myself to paint .It is going kind of slow,but I will keep trying.Who knows one day I might be able to paint a big picture .I do alot of doodling but not painting.I love to sit and just doodle it fills alot of time when I am watching TV or whatever.Yesterday I sat and painted these two ATC's.Really like the Fall one,but the Halloween is not up to par ,will have to try again on it.

Tonight I have to make a Photo Album fora baby,for grandaughter's teacher.I also have a swap to work on,it is to decorate a Pringles can and put a pamper me swap inside.It is different ,but I think it will be a fun challenge.

I am in a couple of craft clubs that I enjoy very much.I have made some great friends and been involved in swaps with other crafters.At one we have started doing ATC cards they are so much fun to do,and we swap with other crafters.This is a pic of one I got this month,it is so nice.I will post pics of some others I have gotten and made for you to see.They are wonderful small works of art for collecting and you get so many beautiful cards.I think anyone who crafts should give them a try.They are not for selling just collecting.

Just A Chat

Well it has been a few days since I posted,sometimes I just can not find time to get here.Husband is home on weekends so most of my time is spent with him,he drive an eighteen wheeler and is gone usually from Sunday afternoon til Friday night.This weekend he and I and another coulpe went out for supper.We went to the new Santa Fe Cattle Co. it was great.The food is wonderful there and the resturant was great,you go in an while you wait you can get a drink and eat peanuts.The floors are covered in peanut hulls that everyone just throws down.
The rest of the weekend was spent doing outside work that we never seem to get caught up on.
Tonight my 9 year old grandson (with a little help from mom) baked a cake and called me over to have a piece and get a piece for his paw paw(who was already in bed).He did a great job on his first attemp at baking.I was so proud of him.The weather here has been so nice in the afternoons that we set at the pond and let the goats out and enjoy the nice weather.We have a wonderful shad tree out there and we have a few chairs.I want to put us a table and chair set and a swing out there so we can have a nice visiting place when friends come over.We usually set on the porch and visit,but under the tree by the pond would be so relaxing.I think that will be my goal before next summer gets here.

Another Day

Another day around the house trying to get caught up.But I did get my sewing for everyone else caught up today.So tomorrow I can start on the things I want to sew.I did two mini cheerleading suits and they are cute,will look better when the mother has them monogramed.
Today I delivered a dress to school when my daughter took her children.We then went to pay a couple bills.Had to pick her 4 yer old up at preschool at 11:oo so we got him went to the local cafe and ate lunch.They have a daily lunch and the food is so good,bets having to fix lunch .
Came home worked on the cheering suits,washed 2 loads of clothes,set on the porch swing and had a cup of coffee and watched the much needed rain.It is such a relaxing thing to set on the porch and swing with a cup of coffee,relives the stress of all the things I need to be doing.

This is some of the little girls capri sets i have made lately.I amtrying to make up enough to have for the Spring Featival in the small town we live near.It seems that not many sell clothing so I am thinking that it would be the thing to try,not alot of computition.My daughter helps pick out the colors and mixes of design.She has a 6 year old daughter that wears what I make and I sometimes use her to model in pics for me.I want people to be able to see how they will look on the child.There are so many new mod colors and fabric designs out now that I have lots to choose from.I do sizes

6 mo.to childs size 7.I have so many more in my head and to make so I am sitting at a machine or cutting out most all the time,unless I have a special order from someone.

My Grandsons Drew and Caleb's Story

This is my 9 year old grandson Drew holding a 5 1/2 ft chicken that was killed in my house.It was frist spotted by his 7 year old brother in the kitchenone day.I felt something hit my foot and Caleb hollered slithered.He said it was black and it slithhered.Well we never saw what he saw we thought it might be a lizzard,because they get in the house all the time.About a month later my daughter went in the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and came out having a fit.She had saw he snake go into the cabinet.Well my husband and son in law searched all day and never saw the snake.That night about 12:00 I went into the kitchen and decided to just look under what was left of my cabinet to see if it was there.I say what wa left because they had cut the bottom of my cabinet out earlier in the day.Well any way there was the snake curled up under there.I went and woke my husband and then called and woke my son in law and they were back at it again.This time they forced him out and killed him.It was a relife,they were both kind of scared of hunting a snake but they were great and finaly got him.I no longer have a critter in my house but I still do not have a bottom in my cabinet either.Well it won't upload the pic with the snake but this is Drew and Caleb.

Well I am going to try to start a blog,everyone I know is and they are having fun with.I can see now that I have alot to learn.So many things you can do and add,I am not to sure I will ever get it right.Well be patience with me till I learn.I will be posting about things in my life and there is alot of that with my grandchildren around.They seem to keep me pretty busy most of the time.I will post pictures of the things I like to do in my life and special days that happen.So to anyone who visits I hope you enjoy and come often once I get this thing going .
